In comparison even though the mountain hardware jacket was a synthetic insulation a good sinthetic it still seamed warmer than the down jacket. With 20 g m2 less insulation that most of its competitors this jacket uses the least amount of insulation of all the jackets in this review. However i d attribute it to having better wind resistance than the patigonia jacket. Though its 20d nylon face fabric is wind and water resistant enough to be used as an outer layer its streamlined fit makes it a perfect mid layer.
